VLS Guide

Patriot Pathways

A Complete Guide to Establishing a New VLS Program

Our children are not being taught the extraordinary history of our Republic, established in the 1700s by our Founding Fathers and Mothers. Vacation Liberty School (VLS) is unable to stand by while those who do not believe in our country try to replace our history.

Patriot Pathways is setting out to change this by offering a resource to create fun interaction and an entertaining education for children to transport them back in time while introducing historical reenactors, local leaders and interactive history lessons. VLS believes it is important to understand the faith and determination required to establish our country and its form of government.

As part of the 250th year anniversary of the founding of the United States VLS is offering Patriot Pathways, A Complete Guide to Establishing a New VLS Program. We hope you will join us in spreading the miraculous and God-inspired history across our nation "from sea to shining sea."

If you are interesting in establishing a VLS Program in your community contact us at info@vacationlibertyschool.org for additional information.

Vacation Liberty School (VLS) of Georgetown had the honor of partnering with the Patriot Academy to present a VLS Kid’s Camp at the Patriot Academy facility in Comfort Texas. The Patriot Academy has various programs aimed at young adults designed to educate and equip a generation of citizen leaders to champion the cause of freedom and truth in every sector of society. They wanted to add a program designed to reach young children and turned to VLS to help them design it.

The camp took place March 16-19 and was attended by 45 children. The camp followed the VLS format consisting of learning about our country’s founding principles through lectures, re-enactors, songs and games. The Patriot Academy Staff and volunteers combined with the VLS staff and three of our long-time supporters, John Knox (Sons of the American Revolution), Matt Long (Ben Franklin and Sam Adams) and Allen Hamilton (Ethan Allen) delivered a week of fun, learning and patriotism.

WE MADE IT!

Vacation Liberty School of Georgetown has always had four goals:

1.  To emphasize the United States of America is a Judeo-Christian based culture

2.  To introduce campers to our Founding Fathers and Mothers who braved tremendous odds to establish our country

3.  To ensure each camper is proud to be an American who knows what freedom and liberty mean and is willing to defend it

4.  Provide a foundation for other groups to initiate this program

With dedicated staff and devoted volunteers, we have repeatedly met goals 1, 2 and 3. This year, 2026, we have succeeded in achieving #4 and assisting other groups on their inaugural launch.  Congratulations and thanks to everyone for all your efforts and dedication!

In 2025, Steve Kubicek presented an extraordinary lesson on George Washington for our VLS camp.  He liked our program and, as president of Sons of the American Revolution for the state of Louisiana, he recruited some of his schooled associates and asked VLS for our direction. We gave him our PATRIOT PATHWAYS manual and after zoom calls and plenty of emails, we were off to Louisiana to witness the debut of Vacation Liberty School of Baton Rouge.

We began by meeting King George and was reminded why the colonists set sail for the new world.  We then recalled how the tax acts upset the new world citizens and resulted in the Boston Tea Party.  And, everyone actually shared a tea tasting party to understand the importance of that luxury – NOT.

Despite the efforts of Paul Revere and Sybil Luddington, alerting the colonists that “The Regulars Are Coming”  they did not prevent what exploded in Lexington and Concord.  General Washington addressed the continental army in hopes of preventing this eruption from destroying the colonies.  Luckily, Henry Knox arrived from Fort Ticonderoga with the cannons and Washington was pleased.  Washington, again the leader of the struggle, crossed the Delaware and won the first big victory of the revolution.

We were privileged to meet such dignitaries as Baron Von Steuben,  Betsy Ross and Louisiana's Bernardo de Galvez.  Galvez won the only battle not fought in the original 13 colonies during the revolution.  Plus, John Paul Jones talked about how he, the fighting sailor who said “I have not yet begun to fight,” was the only one to actually take the war to England and attack the British in their own country.

Daniel Boone embarked upon the history of our westward expansion and the Louisiana Purchase.  The history of our national anthem and a study of the Constitution completed the week.

Thank you Vacation Liberty School of Baton Rouge for sharing some amazing lessons and assisting us in achieving our fourth goal and more.  It was a pleasure and great news knowing they plan to continue their well-done program.
